  • Level 1, August 21-22, 2010
  • Level II October 16-17, 2010

Meridian Yoga Massage is a specially sequenced yoga class
emphasizing energy healing and relaxation through self-massage.
The class uses traditional yoga poses and layers on self-massage
techniques drawn from
Thai massage, Chinese Massage,
Japanese massage, Indian marma therapy and Western massage.

This class is unique in that the instructor does not apply hands on
adjustments or massage applications. Rather, students are simply
guided through the techniques.

Why Meridian Massage?
  • Makes massage affordable
  • Allows yoga instructors to offer a unique offering
  • Draws upon energy healing theory for healing and relaxation
  • Requires no special licensing to teach
  • Students and teachers alike learn to explore the anatomical
    landscape and learn body awareness
  • Balance excessive yang qualities of today's society and
    pace of life

Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How is Meridian Yoga Massage different from Thai
Yoga Massage Therapy?  In Meridian Yoga Massage, the
teacher does not apply massage pressure to the student.
The student applies the technique to him/herself.
  2. Is massage certification and licensing required to be
a teacher?  No. Having a strong background in bodywork
and massage is useful but not required. This class explores
high level concepts of massage and bodywork. Because the
yoga teacher is not applying pressure directly to students,
licensing is not required. Check your local state licensing
office for further details and qualifications.
  3. How is this course related or not to Yin Yoga? Both
Yin yoga and Meridian yoga or more soft (yin) styles of
practice. Both are also tied to the meridian view of energy,
similar to the yogic view of nadis.  However, the Meridian
Yoga Massage format integrates several energy models
    into one.
  4. What is the difference between Level I and Level II?
Level I emphasizes a foundation in the Meridian Yoga
Massage format. Level II emphasizes the format for specific
    therapeutic applications.
