Healing Yoga Therapy
What is it?
The foundation of Thai Yoga Massage Therapy lies in the
concept that the body at its most basic level is energy. This
practice incorporates acupressure, yogic stretching, and
reflexology with special attention to the energy lines of the body.
Benefits:
- Reduce stress and increase relaxation
- Increasing flexibility
- Release emotional blockages
- Relive pain and soreness
- Deepen the connection between mind, body and spirit
What's a Typical Session Like?
- Breathing and meditative, centering techniques
- Limbering and preparatory postures
- Partner assisted poses and foundational stretches
- Pulling, stretching and touch along energy lines
- Relaxation
Traditional Thai sessions are typically 2.5-3 hours for a full body
massage and may include aromatherapy and music therapy.
Thai Yoga Massage is done on a typical yoga mat or cushioned
Thai yoga mat. Loose comfortable clothing is worn.
Deep Tissue Thai Massage Yoga Therapy
Traditional Thai massage techniques are applied with deeper
pressure using knees, elbows, feet, heels and thumbs. The
technique moves fluid, oxygenates trigger points in the body for
tension and pain relief. It is especially good for athletic clients
and those with large amounts of mass.
Thai Massage with Heated Herbal Compress
Along with the massage, hot herbal compresses are used to
increase energy flow, improve circulation, relax muscles,
stimulate nerves and reduce muscle tension. Steam herbs are
applied directly to the skin with soothing oil. Sample herbs
include ginger, lemon, jasmine, eucalyptus and cinnamon.
(Note this massage requires 24-48 hour advance notice)
Thai Reflexology
Zones of the feet and hands correspond to other parts of the
body, such as organs and the spine. Reflexology combines
thumbing, knuckle presses and other techniques to stimulate
reflex points. The session begins with a foot soaking and is done
in a chair or in a lying position. The massage is beneficial for
those who stand the majority of the day, work at a computer
and/or limited to receiving a full body massage.
